How to install a driver in Windows 10
Office equipment from the manufacturer HP company needs to be pre-configured in the system. Without this, the new device will simply refuse to work. Accordingly, it is also necessary to take into account the capacity of your system when performing all the manipulations. We have prepared detailed step-by-step instructions for setting up your printer.
First, you will need to download the driver for the HP LaserJet 1015 printer, which are available via the hyperlinks posted at the top of the page. You can also find the necessary distributions in the “Technical Support” section on the official website of the company. An important point – after downloading, the drivers will be packed into an archive file and we will need to unpack them. We will do it in any convenient folder using the built-in archiver or Windows tools.
Now let’s move on to finding out the bitness of your operating system, because because of this, you will need to select the appropriate type of driver. We need an icon “My Computer” on the desktop – click on it and select the item “Properties”.
If there is no such icon on the desktop, then use the system search – the icon is located next to the “Start” button and enter the phrase “computer” there. Already in the same menu, select the properties of “My computer”. The system will issue a special section where data on our computer is collected. From here we take the data on the bit depth from the “System Type” item.
Now that we have decided on the bitness of the system, we proceed to installing the drivers for the HP LaserJet 1015 printer, for which we need access to the “Control Panel”. We use the search already known to us and click on the “Control Panel” item. After gaining access to the settings, select the “Hardware and Sound” zone, and then “view devices and printers”. We click on this link.
In the menu that opens with the printers available on this computer, we are looking for the “Add printer” button – it is located under the address bar.
First, Windows will start an automatic search for new hardware that may be connected to your computer. We will not wait for the finish line and immediately click on the link “The required printer is not in the list.”
In the next window, put a checkmark in front of the item “Add a local or network printer with parameters set manually” – this item is the lowest in the list. We pass “Next”.
It is necessary to check the box “Use an existing port”. Be sure to make sure that this item contains the option “LTP1: (Printer Port)”. We pass “Next”.
If your printer will not work with this parameter (LPT1), then in this case try to select “DOT4_001”.
In the next step, the system will give you a selection of all known printer drivers. We click “Install from disk”.
Specify the path to the downloaded driver, but before that the downloaded archive must be unpacked and already specify the path to the folder where the driver for the HP LaserJet 1015 printer will be.
When the path is specified, you can continue the installation by clicking on the “Ok” button.
A list will appear where you need to select the printer for which you need to install the driver.
In the next step, we enter a name for the new printer. Click “Next”.
We leave the entered data by default and continue working.
In the last window you can choose to use the default printer and also try to print a test page to make sure your printer is working.
